Transformation of existing warehouse building into vertical farming production.
Agriculture has a great impact on the issue of global warming. Currently it is one of the larges greenhouse gas emission sources, accounting for 25% of the total amount of man-made greenhouse gas emissions. Vertical farming can produce a broad variety of crops without having such a large impact on the environment.
This project seeks two how large a production can be made in a single building. In this case an old 4-story warehouse building in Valby, Copenhagen. The project is designed with a highly aesthetic approach concurrently with the aim of utilising the given area as much as possible. All this alongside a thorough thought through transformation strategy, considering how to create the smalles possible mark on the environment in terms of construction.
